Kyle Beltran

This is my alter-ego in the virtual world of Second Life where I perform regularly at Meatspace Lounge, the club I co-own with lifelong friend and master artist Tom "Quota Soon" Baumgartner.

Even if you are unable to log into Second Life, you can listen to my performances just like an internet radio station from 7:30-9pm PST every Tuesday and Thursday. All you have to do is hold down Ctrl-U in either Windows Media Player or iTunes and enter the URL of the stream, http://38.96.148.18:9292. It's much more fun to create an avatar and interact with me and the audience, and less confusing to listen since you'd be able to see what people in the room are saying/typing to me! However, you can still talk to me in Yahoo Messenger, just IM "kylebronsdon" :)

If you have an account at the photo sharing site, Flickr, you are also welcome to join the Meatspace group on Flickr and view snapshots of the events we have. Hope to see you in-world very soon!

The Happiest Place on Earth

There's plenty of things I do NOT like about California, but I'm just so pleased to consider myself a Californian right now, as the first full day of offical gay marriages take place on the anniversary of Disneyland opening in 1955.

Suck it, conservatives :)

Rupert Murdoch is an asshole

At this weekend's National Conference for Media Reform in Minneapolis, O'Reilly sent his stalker reporter Porter Berry to ambush legendary journalist Bill Moyers. But Berry got far more than he bargained for. Moyers stood his ground with the Fox News crew and challenged O'Reilly to stop smearing people under the guise of journalism

Tell the Senate to Veto the FCC

Senator Dorgan just introduced a bill to veto the FCC´s big handout to Big Media, but Congress must act within 60 legislative days. We must act now to push this bill through the Senate. In 2003, nearly 3 million citizens just like you demanded that the Senate overturn the FCC´s last attempt to let Big Media get even bigger. We can do it again -- but we need your help.

Last December, the FCC approved new rules that could unleash a flood of media consolidation across America. The new rules will mean less diverse voices, local news and investigative journalism. Congress has the power to throw out these rules -- and if hundreds of thousands of people demand it, they'll have to listen

It Must Have Been the Dopamine

Once upon a time, as the worn needle of an outdated turntable made its way across the vinyl surface of Frank Zappa's Hot Rats, a tragically dorky pre-adolescent boy vibrated with an emotion he couldn't describe. Even girls, he soon found, didn't arouse quite the same feelings as Magical Mystery Tour and Dark Side of the Moon. By the time the boy was aware enough of the fairer sex to begin to understand his libido, bands like the Pat Metheny Group and Return to Forever were already drawing his developing hypothalamus into deeper, more profound regions of sensation.

But women are the creation of a greater artist, and the boy soon found that playing the drums won him far more of their attention than writing rudimentary programs on his Radio Shack TRS-80 computer, which had so captured his interest between Dungeons & Dragons and music. The boy became a man, and an entertainer was born.
